OUR HISTORY
We, the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent De Paul, are an International Community of Apostolic Life within the Catholic Church. We were founded by St Vincent De Paul and St Louise De Marillac in 1633 in France. We first came to Kenya in October 2001 at the invitation of the Vincentian Fathers (Congregation of the Mission, DePaul) and opened our first 2 houses in Thigio, Limuru and Chepnyal, West Pokot in January 2002. Since then we have opened 3 other houses in Chanzo, Nairobi in 2004, Matisi, Kitale and Kiio, Kitui in 2009.
OUR VISION
We envision a world where people are treated with respect and their God-given dignity upheld and enhanced.
OUR MISSION
We commit ourselves to serve God by serving our brothers and sisters who are disadvantaged or discriminated against and live in situations of poverty which erodes or fails to recognize their human dignity.
OUR CHARISM
In the spirit of our founders, we, the members of the Daughters of Charity in Kenya,strive to make a difference in the world of people who are poor, disadvantaged or discriminated against. In partnership with others we promote the human dignity, equality and acceptance of eachperson, respecting the richness and diversity of people lives. We bring our particular charism,tradition, experience and expertise to all that we do.
